Luxury vinyl is a synthetic material that has an upscale look like the natural materials it mimics. The cost, however, is lower. Luxury vinyl plank, or LVP, looks like wood, while luxury vinyl tile, or LVT, looks like wood, stone, or ceramic. The Floor Store offers the highest quality LVP and LVT. We have a showroom located in North Chesterfield, Virginia, and a mobile showroom that can visit your home.

Four layers

Planks and tiles have a backing, core, high-tech image, and transparent wear layer. A thick wear layer adequately protects the design layer. A 20+ mil top layer is best for high traffic areas.
Vinyl plank flooring that is enhanced by embossed in register technology is superior. The grain shown in the image layer matches the texture added to the flat image for an authentic look.

WPC core

Vinyl flooring
that has a wood plastic composite (WPC) core is waterproof. This type of flooring is ideal for bathrooms, basements, and other moisture-prone areas of the home. Waterproof luxury vinyl planks and tiles can remain wet for long periods without sustaining damage. The flooring does not change structurally, and therefore, lifespan is not shortened.

Most often, LVP doesn’t need to be attached to the subfloor. The edges of planks click and lock together, and therefore, the floor can float above the subfloor. Underlayment is placed beneath the flooring to enhance its performance. LVT brands that are designed for floating floor construction are joined in the marketplace by glue-down brands.

In addition to a large selection of luxury vinyl flooring, locally-owned The Floor Store offers residential and commercial installation, in-house design consultation, and area rug binding. Flooring estimates are free. North Chesterfield, Midlothian, Richmond, Henrico, and Powhatan, Virginia, are in our service area.
